Studio Rules

-Our dance studio is a smoke-free facility.

-Talking in class should be held to an absolute minimum.

-Students should enter the classroom thoroughly prepared. This includes proper clothing, hair and shoes as well as a positive mental and emotional attitude.

-NO food and beverages, except water, are permitted inside the studios.

-Absolutely NO gum chewing is permitted while participating in class.

-NO swinging, climbing or sitting on the ballet barres.

-NO running or rough play is ever allowed.

-NO ONE should ever be inside an unoccupied studio.

-RESPECT for all faculty, staff members, fellow dancers and their parents is very important to us. We insist on a positive atmosphere and request that any constructive criticism be brought to Elena's attention ONLY. It is not the responsibility of another instructor or parent to do so. Rather than upset the harmony of the studio with negativity, any dancer and/or parent speaking or acting in a corruptive manner will be asked to seek lessons elsewhere.

-Parents are NOT permitted inside the studios unless invited by an instructor. It is distracting to the students and faculty. However, our studios are equipped with observation windows through which classes can be viewed from the waiting area. Please refrain from talking or gesturing to your child or bringing attention to yourself while observing through the windows. This is very disruptive to the students and faculty and becomes quite difficult to conduct a class accordingly. The instructors need every child's undivided attention and we ask that you do part to allow that to happen. If this kind of behavior goes on, it will be brought to your attention. You may be assured that your child is being instructed in a manner associated with proper and efficient dance training. Our faculty and staff are required to have Act 33 and 34 clearances.

-Our waiting area is designed for those parents who need to wait for their child while in class. It is your responsibility to behave properly while waiting for your child and that includes any family/friends. It is NOT a play area, social hall or meeting place and we ask that you conduct such matters such elsewhere. Disruptive behavior will be brought to your attention.

-Please do not confront the instructors during or in between classes. The class schedule is very tight and must stay on track; any conversation can set them behind. Direct all instructor questions through the Front Desk attendant and the instructors will get back to you or set up a conference.

Attendance

Please arrive on time! Our dance classes adhere to a safety conscious format; arriving late for a class can lead to injury if the student is not sufficiently warmed up. Arriving late is a distraction to the other students. Please make every effort NOT to miss class. New material is introduced in each class and it is unfair to the other students when the teacher takes time away from the class to help someone catch up on the missed material. We understand that some absences are unavoidable, but do try to keep them to an absolute minimum. There are no tuition refunds; however, make up classes are permitted at anytime during the year. Please arrange prior to the class with the instructor.

We request students be dropped off or picked up no more than 15 minutes before or after their classes. If you cannot arrive on time, please enroll your child in another class. If you do not abide by this rule you will be charged $10 per half hour that your child waits at our studio.

Dress Code

It is essential that the correct dance clothes be worn so that a teacher may observe body movements and make the necessary corrections. Dance clothing is designed for the body to move in a way that students are comfortable and at ease. Street clothes do not allow that freedom. Appropriate shoes must be worn at all times along with hair being pulled securely back so the dancer is able to move in a proper and safe manner.

GUIDELINES:

-NO tennis shoes or street shoes with the exception of pre-hip hop/hip hop classes.
-NO jewelry should ever be worn for safety purposes.
-Hair MUST always be pulled back and secured away from the face, preferably in a bun. A hair elastic and net along with hairspray may be necessary. Even students with shorter hair must find a secure way to hold back their hair. No student will be allowed to begin a class unless their hair is properly pulled back.
-There are many different styles of dance attire available. We do not expect specific colors (except for Advanced Ballet and Pointe students) or styles, but please adhere to the guidelines given below.
-During the cold weather, dancers are permitted to wear leg warmers, sweater and arm wraps ONLY.
-Dance shoes should NOT be worn outside the studio.
-All dance attire, shoes and personal belongings should be labeled with the student's name. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.
